The meeting dedicated to the 27th anniversary of Khojaly genocide had been held in Gabala History and Ethnography Museum. First of all, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was remembered with a minute of silence. It was noted that the Khojaly genocide, which took place on February 25-26, 1992, is one of the most horrible genocides in human history. On the same night which was engraved in the bloody letters of the Azerbaijan history, Armenian armed forces who were still in the city of Khankendi during the Soviet era, with the help of armored personnel vehicles and military forces of the 366th motorized regime which was mainly consisted of armenians destroyed ancient Khojaly city. It was decleared that this vandalism of the armenian aggressors will never be removed from memories. It was not just a genocide against the azerbaijani people, it was such a terrible, bloody crime against humanity and mankind. Nevertheless, at that time, the azerbaijani authorities didn't do any substantial work to provide political assessment of this horrific event and to deliver objective information about this terrible genocide to the world community. Only after national leader Heydar Aliyev regained power by the abrupt demand of the people, this bloody genocide was given a legal and political assessment. In 1994, by the initiation of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani parliament declared 26th of February as the Day of Khojaly Genocide. It was pointed out at the meeting that the Khojaly genocide was a part of the 20th century's most terrible genocide and ethnic cleansing policy, and it was emphasized that persons involved in this vandalism have to respond in front of justice.
