Awareness building activities in the direction of "Development of silk production and cocoon breeding" are continuing.

A seminar was held in the meeting room of the Department of Agriculture within the framework of the project “Preparation of a package of innovative measures for the development of the agricultural sector on the example of the north-western region of Azerbaijan and the model of agro-ecological development”. The seminar was opened by the director of the Gabala Region Agriculture Department, Rahib Ahmadov, introducing the speakers, informing the participants about the relevance and importance of the educational topics provided for by the project. During the seminar on the agenda topics, presentations were prepared and conducted on the basis of the slides. First, on the topic of the agenda - “Prospects for the development of sericulture in the north-west of Azerbaijan,” a presentation was made by a project participant, PhD in biology Farhad Azizov. In his speech, he stressed that this direction is very important for both the country and the region, the priority of this area in the “State program adopted in connection with the development of silk production and cocoon breeding”, the role of silk culture in economic efficiency for the region, increasing employment, improving the economic situation. A presentation on the following topic - “Agrotechnical rules for feeding the silkworm, silkworm diseases and combating them” was presented by the project participant, PhD in Biology, associate professor Gudrat Bakirov. In his speech, he provided detailed information on the incubation of the silkworm, microscopic analysis, pre-incubation disinfection measures, rules for their implementation, care for the silkworm in accordance with each age period, factors responsible for adhering to the feeding rules and agrotechnical rules, obtaining high-quality cocoons and silk products. On another topic - “The role of the development of sericulture in the economy of the region and the country” information was provided by Agil Mustafayev, a researcher at the Shaki Region Scientific Center. In his speech, he provided information on the role and importance of silk production in the economy of the region and the country, methods for evaluating new silkworm breeds and hybrids, new breeds and hybrids differing in silk yield, biological and technological indicators of various breeds. The next topic was “Agrotechnical rules for growing Chinese mulberry seedlings brought from abroad” by Joshgun Mammadov, a researcher at the Shaki Region Scientific Center, who spoke about the dynamics of growth and development of seedlings of this variety planted in the experimental plot in Shaki and the results of their yield. Questions from the participants of the seminar on the topics presented were answered, discussions were held and proposals were recorded. The topics presented at the seminar were listened to by the participants with interest and instructions were distributed to the participants. The workshop was attended by silkworms, farmers, agronomists, as well as agronomist and specialists of the Department of Agriculture. The workshop participants were provided with methodological instructions on the agrotechnical rules for feeding the silkworm.
