Gabala Taekwondo Championship was held on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Gabala Youth and Sports Department organized Gabala Taekwondo Championship among juniors on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The competition took place on May 8, 2019 in the gym of “Qafqaz Sport Hotel”. About 100 athletes participated in the competition. The purpose of the competition is to convey the work done by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev towards the development of our modern Azerbaijan, reforms made by him in the field of sports like others, achieve the popularity of sport in the region, improve racing skills and experience of junior and young athletes, and promote taekwondo among juniors. Fakhri Soltanov, head of the Youth and Sports Department, made a speech in the opening ceremony, he informed about the purposes and objectives of the championship and spoke about the work done by Heydar Aliyev for the development of sports. F.Soltanov wished the participants success in their speech, and spoke about strengthening of the material and technical base of the sport in Gabala, as well as care and attention paid by the President Ilham Aliyev to athletes. Upon the opening ceremony the competition among athletes for the first place started. More than 100 juniors in two age groups of 10 weight categories (26-33-37-42-46-58-63-69-76+85 kg) competed in the championship. The championship was entrusted to a panel of judges approved by the Region Youth and Sports Department under the rules of Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation. At the end of the championship awarding ceremony was held. At the awarding ceremony, the diplomas of the Youth and Sports Department were awarded to the winners (I, II, III places) as a result of the fierce competition.
