Ilham Aliyev attended the commissioning ceremony of drinking water supply and sewerage systems of Gabala city.

Drinking water supply and sewerage systems of Gabala city were put into commission on October 28.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony. Gorkhmaz Huseynov, the chairman of "Azersu" OJSC, informed the head of our state that the project implemented in order to improve the use of drinking water and sewage services for the population of Gabala, which has ancient history and rich tourist opportunities, has already been completed. This project was implemented within the framework of "National Water Supply and Sewerage Services Project", financed by the Government of Azerbaijan jointly with the World Bank, as well within state investment program. The project is designed to improve the use of drinking water and sewerage services for 30 thousand people in Gabala city, taking into consideration prospective development by 2035.
In order to provide the population of Gabala city with regular and high-quality drinking water, 8 sub-artesian wells were drilled in the bed of Demiraparanchay river. 10.5 kilometers of trunk line from the water source were laid to Gabala city and connected to new network. As part of the project, 6 reservoirs with a total volume of 10,400 m3, a chlorination plant and laboratory building were constructed.
It was reported that as a result of the work done, 132 km of drinking water networks were created in the city, more than 7 thousand subscribers were connected to new network, also the works on installing the counters were implemented. At present, due to new infrastructure, the population of the city is regularly provided with drinking water. 123 km sewer network and 8.2 km sewage collector were constructed in the city. In order to clean and neutralize wastewater, the construction of wastewater cleaning plant with a capacity of 4400 m3 per day was completed.
The head of our state pressed the start button, symbolizing the supply of drinking water to Gabala city.
