A poetry contest dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the January 20th tragedy.

A poetry contest was held among adolescents and youth on the subject “Martyrs are not forgotten”, dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the January 20th tragedy with the organization of the Gabala Region Youth and Sports Department and the Education Department in the assembly hall of the Gabala Region Education Department on January 16, 2020. The purpose of the contest was to inform people that martyrs of the bloody January tragedy that went down in the history of the struggle for freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as a page of heroism, wrote a heroic annals, reminiscence of them will never be erased, and martyrdom is a sacred peak, as well as to develop the artistic and creative potential of adolescents and youth. First, at the opening ceremony of the contest, the blessed memory of the martyrs was honored with a minute of silence. The Head of the Youth and Sports Department Fakhri Soltanov and the Head of the Education Department Arifa Bayramova made a speech about the goals and tasks of the event and talked about the facts and realities of the "January 20th tragedy”, as well as informed the participants on the socio-political events of that time, that caused this tragedy. The contest was attended by more than 20 students from different schools of the region. They'd read poems dedicated to the martyrs, national heroes who sacrificed themselves for our lands, as well as to patriotism. In accordance with the provisions of the contest, 1 person took 1st place, 2 people - 2nd place, 3 people - 3rd place. According to the results of the contest, the 1st place was taken by Kubra Magsudova, 2nd - Zahra Mammadova and Farid Mohubov, and 3rd - Nazrin Musayeva, Seljan Rafizade and Nazrin Mammadova. The winners were awarded with diplomas and souvenirs of the Youth and Sports Deparment.
