A new bridge is being built over the Bum River in Gabala.

01 February 2020 | 02:00

On the 2nd kilometer of the Bum-Tikanli-Abrykh highway, separating 11 settlements with a population of twenty thousand from the center of Gabala and other settlements, work began on the construction of a new bridge over the Bum River and the reconstruction of a 2-kilometer highway leading to the village of Bum. The new bridge will be 12-span, 310 meters long and 9 meters wide. The project also provides for laying sidewalks for pedestrians in each direction in order to organize comfortable and safe movement of citizens over the bridge. Currently, 10 out of 13 bridge piers are under construction. In addition, work is underway on the foundation of the left and right retaining walls of the automobile bridge. The absence of a bridge in this area prevented comfortable movement of citizens. Thus, residents of 11 settlements encountered difficulties in crossing from one side of the river to the other, and they had to travel an additional 30 kilometers to get to the district center and adjacent settlements. As a result of the construction of the new bridge, as well as the reconstruction of the road from the village of Bum to the bridge, 20 thousand residents will be provided with a comfortable way directly to the district center and neighboring villages without having to cross an additional road, they will be able to quickly and without damage to deliver their agricultural products to the markets. And this in turn will lead to the development of agriculture and tourism in this region and will have a positive impact on the living conditions of the population, creating conditions for the emergence of new tourist routes.
