In response to the appeals of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the first Vice-President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, Centre for Coordination of Azerbaijani Volunteers (CCAV), established by volunteer organizations and movements functioning in Azerbaijan, continues its activity. One of the projects realized within CCAV was related to the participation of the volunteers in eliminating the threat to the lives of people suffering from thalassemia and haemophilia, who need urgent operation and, in this regard, blood. In response to the "Voluntary donor" campaign started on April 8, Centre for Coordination of Azerbaijani Volunteers, together with the Blood Bank – National centre for Haematology and Transfusiology, organized the blood donation campaign in Gabala Medical and Diagnostic Centre on April 25. Society, volunteers of institutions, enterprises and organizations of Gabala took part in this charity event as volunteers. In the campaign, organized under special quarantine regime, voluntary donors underwent medical examinations and donated blood. The readiness of Azerbaijani people, who always show unity and solidarity, to help each other, to overcome difficulties and trials together, is one of our most remarkable features. Such qualities as compassion, charity, humanism, generosity, good deeds, being near those who need help, always was and today are our most important life values. The ability of our people to show solidarity, humanism, attention and care at a time when special quarantine regime was applied in our country in connection with the coronavirus pandemic that shook all the world - all this gives each of us only a sense of pride. Providing support to people suffering from inherited blood diseases, especially thalassemia, is the obligation of every citizen of Azerbaijan. The first Vice-President, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, thanking the volunteers for taking part in the blood donation campaign, said: "Doing this noble action, you save a human life. It is worthy of the highest praise! I am sure that your initiative will be supported by all the citizens of our country who do not neglect this matter and are ready to do good! Thank you very much!"
