Great attention and care provided by President Ilham Aliyev to Nizami Ganjavi heritage, a prominent representative of our literature, is considered as a very significant and praiseworthy event in the cultural life of our people. President Ilham Aliyev's declaring 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in Azerbaijan is the continuation of the tradition laid by the nationwide leader of the people of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. So, approaching to Azerbaijan's classical literary and cultural heritage from the aspect of national fanaticism and patriotism nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev has always treated the Nizami heritage with great attention and care. The decision "On measures to further improve the study, publication and promotion of the heritage of great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi", adopted on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev in 1979 opened up new prospects for research and promotion of Nizami creativity. The 840th anniversary ceremonies of the immortal artist that were held in 1981 on the initiative and with the attendance of the Great Leader have become a significant event in the cultural life of our country. In 2011 870th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi was widely celebrated with series of public events. Celebrating the anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi who fascinated humanity with his poetic world for 880 years at the state level will be another vivid example of attention and care to national culture in our country, as well as review of magnificence, pure and clear human feelings of the world-famous poet. Nizami Ganjavi has lived and created in Ganja, an ancient city of Azerbaijan, one of the most important cultural centers of his period, as well as established the pearls of the marvelous poetic art enriching the history of philosophical, social and artistic-aesthetic thinking of the Near and Middle East. Nizami Ganjavi's widely known "Khamsa" stands at the top of the world poetic-philosophical thinking. The thinker-poet laid the foundation of a great literary school consisting of his numerous followers. Nizami's works that decorated the most famous libraries and museums stimulated the development of Eastern miniature art. Genius Nizami has always been the focus of the world orientalism. So much work has been done in the field of studying and promoting the art of Nizami in our country, the scientific-critical text of his works, highly appreciated in the legacy of Nizami, his books have been published in exquisite design and mass circulation. The memorable image of Nizami was created in literature and art. A magnificent mausoleum has been built in his motherland Ganja and his statues have been erected in Baku, Saint Petersburg and Rome. The Literature Institution of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature are named after Nizami Ganjavi. The Nizami Ganjavi Center is successfully operating at Oxford University in Great Britain. Nizami Ganjavi is one of the great personalities bestowed by the Azerbaijani people to mankind. He gained fame in world literature as a humanist and thinker poet. His works have been around for nine hundred years, as the pearl of the artistic word treasure travels the whole world. Winged verses of the poet have the same tone with today as the most beautiful examples of classical poetry, and therefore we can consider him our spiritual modern. As we study Nizami's creativity deeply, we learn with all its fullness, it is of greater educational importance. The thinker-poet who expressed universal ideas in his works with highly poetic competence is one the unique figures of Azerbaijani literature. Speaking from this point of view, President Ilham Aliyev declared 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" to celebrate the 880th anniversary of the great poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi at a higher level in our country. The poet's immortal works that bring up readers in the spirit of love for life and mankind still call to realize beauties, holiness and awaken confidence in the power of the mind, the victory of the truth and goodness. The "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" will be another contribution to the larger research, deeper study and wide promotion of his unique poetry in the world.
