Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Vocational Training Center

Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Vocational Training Center was created in Gabala district in accordance with the decision No 241 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated 14 October 2008. Developed Charter of Training Center and Action Plan were approved for implementation. There are 47 people operating at Training Center. There are 9 industrial training masters, 7 teachers, military leader, head of physical training, tutor-teacher, librarian and 26 people working in non-pedagogical fields. Every employee working in the pedagogical field of the Training Center is aspired to build his/her work in accordance with the modern requirements. After the President Ilham Aliyev signed “State Program for the development of vocational education in the Republic of Azerbaijan” (2007-2012), state care on this field has been in the foreground. Our center establishes its work on the basis of the provisions of the State Program taking into account the requirements of employers in labor market and the development characteristics of region. 3-storey teaching building which meets modern requirements, 2-storey hostel for boys and girls, meeting room, dining room, laboratory, service rooms for pupils to pass production experience are attached to the Training Centre. In addition, the center’s workshops have been provided with modern equipment. Service and bar room, meat and fish-cleaning workshop, workshop on the first floor of the training building, workshop for the preparation of flour products and large kitchen are on the first floor of the teaching building. 20-22-seat 19 classroom, library, teachers’ room and subject rooms are on the second and third floors. The Training Center has been provided with 22 computers. Pupils of the Center use computer facilities in order to enhance their knowledge and skills to the maximum level. The Center has 2.58 ha land area. 1.85 ha area of the site is greenery. In addition, there is a 10-bed medical center, heating system boiler house with two boilers, artesian wells, and 400 KVA transformer substation.     Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Vocational Training started operating on the basis of 2009-2010 pupil admission plan of the Ministry of Education. In accordance with the admission plan, 45 pupils from education basis study in barman-barmaid, waiter professions. 90 pupils are divided into 6 groups.     Students from the neighboring districts receive education on chosen professions in the center. Pupils in need of hostels have been provided with it. In 2010 – 2011 academic years, 120 people were adopted to the center. Currently 160 pupils study in the center. There are 2 groups on new specialties- the hotel administrator and accountant- personal computer operator. Industrial training masters working in the training center, specialty teachers and subject teachers are employees with higher education. Our main task is to ensure comprehensive development of the youth, as well as to provide excellent professional training and maintenance service for them. In this regard, the activity of engineer-pedagogical staff of the center is admirable. As a modern educational institution, our center has a refined design. Corner reflecting life and activities of our Great and National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been designed in the lobby. The library of center has been equipped with books allocated by the Ministry of Education. The organization of leisure time of our pupils is always in the center of attention. Pupils spend industrial training days very efficiently. They work according to their specialization in the workshop of center. Those studying on cook-pastrycook profession prepare various dishes, sweets, while those studying on barman - barmaid, waiter specialties prepare a variety of drinks and demonstrate their knowledge on maintenance service.  The employees of “Qafqaz Resort” hotel operating region always keep in touch with the training center. Furthermore, during the industrial training days our pupils make their way to the recreation centers, hotels operating in the region in order to enhance the experience. Pedagogical staff of the Training Center tries to build work in the way that meets the modern requirements on the training of personnel in the field of Tourism and Hotel Business. Taking into account the development of tourism sector in our country, the creation of the groups on the specialties embracing this field in the center is expected in the new academic year.  In Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Vocational Training Center, barman, barmaid- waiter professions are also taught for the training of high-quality service personnel. The purpose of giving preparation on this specialty is the preparation of the barman, barmaid and waiters meeting the highest requirements for tourism infrastructure and cultural service area rapidly developing in the country.

Pupils acquiring this specialty put into practice and deepen what they have learnt in theoretical lessons. Barman-barmaid, waiters, who have been specialized at the training center and meet modern standards, should know the method and rules of service applied in the world and Azerbaijan, as well as types and appointment of used kitchen utensils, the methods of composing the menu and wine cards, welcoming the guests, receiving orders, preparation of tables, characteristics of food, types and characteristics of beverages, rules for the preparation of different cocktails. 

       Cook, pastrycook- The aim of teaching this specialty is to prepare artisans who know national and international cuisine and manufacturing of hot and cold food, beverages, culinary and confectionery products, semi-finished products for providing high quality services.

The aim of giving students “Accountant personal computer” specialty is to teach changes in the world economy more extensively, to enhance its position in the development of country’s economy.

Pupils completing “Accountant- personal computer operator” specialty possess the following knowledge. 
•  Should know:
•  Theoretical knowledge, as well as information on the conduct of various accounting accounts, financial transactions.
• Rule for filling information on accounting reports to the economic balance
• The application of computer-information communication equipment in the accounting field
• Learning the changes in the world economy with the help of information communication technologies
• Should be able to do the following:
• Practical work, including conduct of accounting of main assets, as well as less valuable, perishable items in enterprises
• Development of financial plan, collection and delivery of statistic data
Hotel administrator- One of the specialties taught in the Training Centre is “Hotel Administrator” specialty. There is a great demand for this specialty in terms of development of tourism in Gabala. Highly qualified receptionists are prepared for hotel here. The following subjects are taught to students in accordance with their specialties.
