An art-exhibition competition dedicated to “the 28th anniversary of Khojali tragedy” was held.

With the organization of the Department of Youth and Sports, with the participation of Gabala Golden Crescent Society, Gabala State Art Gallery and Gabala School of Art, an art-exhibition competition on the topic of “Khojali tragedy through the eyes of children” was held at Gabala Culture Centre on February 26, 2020. Up to 40 young teenage artists with about 70 pieces of art joined the competition. The event was attended by youth, schoolchildren, as well as representatives of society, working in various departments and enterprises of the region. First of all, the memory of the victims of Khojali tragedy was honoured by a moment of silence. The event was opened by the director of Gabala Culture Centre, Malik Aghayev, who, speaking about the goals and responsibilities of the event, said that Khojali incident is a tragic page in our history, that this genocide is a genocide directed not only against Azerbaijani people, but also against all the humanity. Further, the head of regional Department of Youth and Sports, Fakhri Soltanov, and the chairman of Gabala Golden Crescent Society, Sadagat Bayramova, speaking, reported that Khojali genocide ranks along with the most terrible and most brutal genocides of the 20th century - Khatyn and Hiroshima genocide, that the first initiative to recognize this genocide at international level and expose Armenian fascism belongs to Heydar Aliyev. The speakers, having provided information on the art works presented at the competition, said that significant feature of such art exhibitions is that these works will be stored for many years and give life to our history, that great artists of the future will come out of the participants of the competition, who will definitely remember about this day. After watching the art exhibition, winners awarding ceremony took place. Young artists were wished success in their further activities, in accordance with the provisions of the competition, 1 person took the 1st, 2 persons took the 2nd and 3 persons - the 3rd place, while the remaining participants were awarded for active participation. In accordance with the results of the art competition, Sabina Fakhlulova took the 1st, Zarifa Rajabova and Nazanin Khalilli - 2nd, Malayka Mahiyaddinova, Narmin Samadova and Gulbara Mammadova - 3rd place. The winners were awarded souvenirs and diplomas.
