The twenty-eighth anniversary of Khojaly genocide was marked.

Under the organization of Gabala region Executive Power, general region event dedicated to the twenty-eighth anniversary of Khojaly region was held. At first, the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition entitled “Khojaly genocide through the eyes of children”, dedicated by schoolchildren to Khojaly tragedy. The event, organized at Gabala Culture Centre, was opened by the deputy head of REP, Ataya Osmanova, then the memory of our martyrs of Khojaly genocide, including those who sacrificed their lives on the path of freedom of our lands, was honoured with a moment of silence. The head of region Executive Power, Sabuhi Abdullayev, speaking at the event, said that Azerbaijani people never forget Khojaly tragedy and with deep mourning remembers this great tragedy as the bloodiest crime — genocide committed against humanity. The head of the REP noted that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, implements purposeful and consistent work in the direction of reporting the crimes committed by Armenia against peaceful Azerbaijanis, including the truth related to Khojaly genocide, to world society, recognition of this genocide. The head of the region, who said that our lands would soon be liberated from the occupation of the enemy, emphasized that in the measures taken to convey the truth about Khojaly to world society, disseminate this truth at international level, objectively assess genocide, vice president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ms. Leyla Aliyeva has exceptional merit, “Justice for Khojaly - Freedom to Karabakh” international propaganda campaign, implemented on her initiative in many countries, plays important role in the recognition of tragedy as genocide. Then, internally displaced persons from Khojaly, Giyas Ahmadov and Kamal Mammadov, speaking, expressed gratitude for warm attitude and state care given to them in Gabala. At the event, performed by schoolchildren of the city complete secondary school No. 3, literary and artistic composition dedicated to the Khojaly genocide was provided.
