President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev: "If citizens are strictly submitting to discipline, we can keep the pandemic under control and defeat it."

Today, humanity is fighting the worst disease – the COVID-19 pandemic. The population of the Earth does everything possible to avoid infection with the virus. However, it is impossible to defeat this virus acting alone. In this regard, all states should join their efforts and fight together. Uniting the peoples of countries and fighting together is one of the main conditions for defeating the pandemic. Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, the Republic of Azerbaijan is putting forward important initiatives and takes effective measures to strengthen international solidarity in the fight against coronavirus at the regional and global levels. From the very first days of the pandemic spread in our country, all the people joined the President's call "Together we are the strength!". The scope of the work done by the Head of the country in this direction is great. On July 6, 2020, President Ilham Aliyev gave detailed information about the work done in the country during the pandemic in an interview with AzTV , ITV, and Khazar TV channels. Since the start of the pandemic, the construction of new hospitals and major repairs and restoration of old ones were among the most important issues in strengthening the country's health system under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Currently, 45 hospitals are observing patients with COVID-19, 36 of them were built recently by the order of the President. Within the regional development program hospitals were built in most regions, and today they meet the highest standards. If modern hospitals were not built in every corner of the country according to the order of the Head of State, today we could face serious problems in the fight against coronavirus. In this regard, the modular hospitals play an important role. Since the beginning of the year, construction of 10 modular hospitals has started, five of them are already operating. Two of them are in Baku, one in Sumgayit, one in Ganja, one in the Absheron region, and five more hospitals are under construction. Construction of these hospitals in a short time shows that even in time constraints, we can take the necessary steps. Modular hospitals have wards, laboratories, diagnostic centers, and all the necessary conditions for doctors. Infection rates are high, but the situation is under control. In a number of developed countries with an model health system and the same population size as in Azerbaijan, the number of infected people reached 60-70 thousand, and the number of dead - 10 thousand. This shows that no country is fully safe now. "Special rules must be observed during a pandemic. Law enforcement agencies strictly monitor compliance with them. If citizens are strictly submitting to discipline, we can keep the pandemic under control and defeat it," the President said. The activities carried out by the State continue consistently in the regions. Mobile groups created by the Operational Headquarters under the Gabala Region Executive Power regularly conduct awareness raising work. We believe that together we can defeat the pandemic.
