A seminar by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency took place in Gabala
As a follow-up to the four-day seminar titled "Interdepartmental joint activities and emergency planning for the creation of effective early warning systems at the domestic level", organized jointly by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), in partnership with the Red Cross Society and the International Center for Environmental Monitoring (CIMA) of Italy, a mission was organized to the North-West region selected as a pilot area. The purpose of the visit was to analyse existing risks and conduct appropriate monitoring to provide an early warning system for the areas prone to forest fires, as well as to assess the possibilities of joint and effective disaster management at the community level. The specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan, including the PPRD East3 program, took part in the mission. As part of the visit, the meetings were carried out at the North-West Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Gabala Region Executive Power covering the joint organization and planning of civil defense measures at the local level, including disaster risk management. Besides, the mission included a seminar at the Gabala Region Cultural Center organised jointly by the North-West Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Gabala Region Executive Power to mark the performance evaluation of joint activities and coordinating mechanisms of the structures responsible for civil defense measures locally, including communities and civil society organizations.
