8 new sub-artesian wells will be drilled in Gabala region.
In recent years, reasonable measures are taken in improving the provision of crop fields with irrigation waters, as well as in meeting the population's drinking water needs in order to increase the efficiency of using soils and expand the cultivable lands in the Azerbaijan Republic. With this purpose, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on March 12. In accordance with the order, 21.0 (twenty one) million manats of the amount, set out in the sub-item 1.47.13 of the “distribution of funds intended for state-funded investment (investment expenditures) in the state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018” approved by the order No.3593 dated on January 22, 2018 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is noted to be allocated for the Azerbaijan Amelioration and Water Management Open Joint Stock Company in order to ensure 300 sub-artesian wells to be designed and drilled in 2018 for improvement of irrigation water supplement of the 8740 hectares crop field and smallholdings used for sowing in 248 residing areas of 38 cities and regions, of which population is 597 thousand, and for fulfillment of the needs of the soil to be irrigated to the irrigation water and of the population to the drinking water. In distribution of sub-artesian wells, which are added to the order and considered to be drilled in 2018, for the residential areas, in general 8 sub-artesian wells are considered to be drilled at Bum settlement and Charkhana, Aydingishlag, Khirkhatala, Yenikand, Tikanli, Tovla and Uludash villages of Gabala regions being one for each of them.
