Easter was celebrated in the Nij settlement.
Easter was celebrated on April 8 in the Nij settlement of the region, with the joint organization of the representative office of the settlement in the administrative-territorial district and the Albanian-Udi Christian Community. At the festive ceremony organized in the Albanian-Udi Orthodox Church "Chotari", located in the village, the leader of the religious community, the priest of the church and members of the community spoke. The speeches referred to the essence of the Easter, the conditions created for the performance of religious rites, the attention and care given by the state. It was brought to the attention that the thorough reconstruction of the Albanian-Udi Church "Chotari" is an excellent example of tolerance in the country. After the speeches, the candles were lit and prayers were read in the church. Sabuhi Abdullayev, the Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power, and the heads of the region law enforcement agencies, number of institutions and organizations, who participated in the event, congratulated members of the Albanian-Udi Christian Community and residents of the village on the occasion of the Easter. It should be mentioned that are 3 churches and 2 mosques in the settlement. 3,700 udis live in this settlement with a population of six thousand people. Udis have preserved their language, religion, traditions and customs for centuries. The Udi language is taught in the elementary schools of the Nij settlement, religious rituals in the church are conducted in their native language.
