A zonal championship was held.
A zonal championship of the "Young lifeguard and firefighter" competition was conducted in Gabala on June 3, 2014, dedicated to the 91st anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev, organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. First of all, guests and team captains, paid the tribute to the memory of the Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev, and laid flowers to his bust. Then, declaring the opening of the competition, the National anthem of Azerbaijan Republic was sounded. The competitions started after the teams passing in front of the podium to the sound of the march. The purpose of the competition is to increase military patriotic education of youth, the level of preparation to the emergencies and feeling of responsible approach to the public safety. In the event which was attended by 120 participants, the teams of 10 districts were represented (Gobustan, Aghsu, Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Gabala, Oguz, Shaki, Gakh, Zagatala, Balaken). Within the competition the teams contended for supremacy in various stages ("Obstacle course", "Combined fire race", "Search and rescue", "Presentation of the teams" and "Young experts"). In the zonal championship of the "Young lifeguard and firefighter" competition, ending with an intense struggle and high sporting spirit, following teams got cups taking the following places: Ismayilli team - 1st place, Gobustan team - 2nd place, Gakh team - 3rd place.
Distinguishing within the competition, the teams were awarded with cups and diplomas from the Northwest Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Department of Youth and Sport of Gabala region.
The teams of Ismayilli and Gobustan regions, taking 1 and 2 places, respectively, were granted the right to participate in the "Young lifeguard and firefighter" nationwide competitions, dedicated to the 91st anniversary of the birth of National Leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.
