The concert of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra was welcomed with much interest at the Gabala Festival.
It has been the sixth day that the X Gabala International Music Festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is delighting the audience with pretty interesting concert programs. Well-known Azerbaijani music ensembles, as well as outstanding musicians, chamber and symphonic orchestras, soloists and conductors from foreign countries attend the festival, which started on July 30. According to the program of the festival, the concert of world-famous Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra of Israel was held on August 4, at Gabala Region Culture Center. Representatives of the organizers of the festival, music lovers and guests of the city attended the concert. It was informed that the orchestra was established in 1930 under the Palestinian Radio. Since 1970, the ensemble has been called Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. From the date of establishment, the orchestra has been led by famous figures such as Mendi Rodan, Lukas Foss, Gary Bertini, Lawrence Foster and David Shallon. Maestro Frederic Chaslin is the current music director of the orchestra. The ensemble has been collaborating with a number of prominent conductors. The repertoire of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra includes various compositions of classical and contemporary composers. The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra performed the works of Sofia Gubaydulina, Henry Dutilleux, Alfred Schnittke and other well-known composers for the first time. The successful activity of the ensemble encourages Israeli composers to create new compositions. For decades, legendary musicians such as Igor Stravinsky, Arthur Rubinstein, Otto Klemperer, Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Isaac Stern, Pablo Kazals and many other famous musicians have performed with this orchestra. The most spectacular premieres of the orchestra were the performances of Milhaud`s opera David (1954), Stravinsky`s cantata “Abraham and Isaac” (1964) under the direction of the conductor Robert Graft and K.Penderetsky`s “Seven Gates of Jerusalem” (1999) ordered for celebrations of 3 thousand-year anniversary of Jerusalem. The orchestra performs at various international festivals every year. This ensemble, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Israel and Jerusalem municipality, has been on tour in many European and American cities and performed in the world`s most famous concert halls. Works of S.Rachmaninoff, C.Saint-Saens and W.A.Mozart were performed at the concert conducted by the world-famous musician Dmitry Yablonsky, one of the artistic directors of the Gabala festival. Performances of the soloists Saida Taghizade (piano), Alexey Miltykh (cello) and Eduard Wulfson (violin) were welcomed with applause of the audience. In the past days of the festival, concerts of Azerbaijani young mugham singers, Baku Chamber Orchestra of Baku Music Academy, Instrumental Ensemble “Gaytaghi” under the direction of People`s Artist, virtuous accordionist Anvar Sadigov, and Budapest “Gypsy Band” from Hungary accompanied by the Student Symphonic Orchestra of the Baku Music Academy named after U.Hajibeyli, the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra, the band “Jovanes Clasicos Del Son” of Cuba, Israel`s virtuous pianists, instrumental ensemble “Mugham” were welcomed by the audience with much affection.
