Flag Day was celebrated in Gabala.
It is 100 years since the creation of our state flag, which is one of the main symbols of the independent Azerbaijan Republic. Our tricolor national flag with a star and a crescent, approved by the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic dated on November 9, 1918, flew over the government building on the same day. The Government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the Azerbaijani people persistently defended the honor of our national flag, and achieved its recognition in the international arena. In 1920, Soviet power came to Azerbaijan, our tricolor national flag was banned as a symbol of the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Despite this, the love of our national flag was not lost, it was kept like the apple of the eye. During the existence of the Soviet Union on November 17, 1990, on the initiative of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic adopted the Tricolor national flag, which was adopted in the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic as a State Flag. On October 18, 1991, the Constitutional Act on the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan was adopted and our tricolor again received the status of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated on November 17, 2009, every year on November 9 in our country the State Flag Day is celebrated.
