In Gabala, 219 hectares of new hazelnut gardens were laid out.
In Gabala region for the development of hazelnut breeding, which is one of the agricultural sectors with export potential, new hazelnut gardens have been established over a large area. The order of President Ilham Aliyev regarding the development of hazel heaps and the laying of new gardens was greeted by the residents of the Gabala region. After the decree by the head of state in the region, measures were taken to study the existing potential in connection with the laying of new hazelnut gardens, as well as to carry out agrotechnical tree care by specialists, taking control of 6,244.4 hectares of fruit-bearing nut orchards in Gabala and a special headquarters has been created for this purpose. Over the past 3 months in 3 villages and 55 villages of Gabala, which is the largest area of hazelnut breeding in the region, among the population, in a mass form, work has been carried out on planting hazelnut seedlings. In a short time, new hazelnut gardens were laid out in the area of 219 hectares. The residents of the village, in an organized manner joining this work, clearing empty land plots used by them and being in municipal ownership, put hazelnut saplings in their place. For this purpose, residents of the region carried out work on laying nut gardens: in 2016 - 1,585 hectares, in 2017 - 517.4 hectares, in spring 2018 - 135 hectares, and in autumn 2018 - 219 hectares. Currently, this work continues. It should be noted that in 2017, 7,023.2 tons of crops were harvested from 4,454 hectares of fruit-bearing nut orchards in Gabala. Along with the supply of products to local markets, the villagers deliver it to local points for receiving hazelnuts from the Gabala hazelnut processing plant.
