President Ilham Aliyev allocated 30 million manat for construction of Laki-Gabala railroad line.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed Order “On measures related to construction of Laki-Gabala railroad line”. In the Order it was noted that decrease of dependence of the country economy on oil, increase of the profits obtained in other areas and quick development of non-oil sector are of main directions of economic reforms made in the republic. As a result of measures taken in recent years on the development of tourism that is regarded as one of the most profitable areas of the non-oil sector in term of economy, serious achievements were obtained in this area, as well as the number of tourist spots was enhanced, the level of the service was improved and local population’s interest to national tourism as well as number of the tourists visiting the country significantly increased. The construction of 43 kilometers new railroad line from vicinity of Laki station located in Aghdash region will contribute for improvement of the tourism infrastructure and ensuring the availability to tourist spots in order to implement passenger transport by train to Gabala city that is one of the most principal tourist resort areas of the country, and reverse direction. According to the Order, 30 million manat of the amount indicated in Sub-clause 1.3.7 of "Allocation of Funds specified for State-Based Investment (Investment Expenditures) of the State Budget of Azerbaijan Republic for 2018" certified by the Order dated on January 22, 2018, of the President of Azerbaijan Republic with the purpose of preparation of project-estimate documents of the construction of Laki-Gabala railroad line, alienation of lands under the erection and doing construction works, was allocated for "Azerbaijan Railways” Closed Joint-Stock Company. Preparation of project-estimate documents of Laki-Gabala railroad line and implementation of construction works were charged to "Azerbaijan Railways” Closed Joint-Stock Company.
