In connection with the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, an event was held in Gabala at the Heydar Aliyev Center with the participation of students of secondary school No. 3. At the event, held in the exhibition hall, students were provided with detailed information about the Khojaly tragedy. It was stated that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, the Armenian armed forces occupied Khojaly. That night, 613 people were killed in the city, more than 1,000 residents became disabled, getting various bullet wounds, and 1,275 people - the elderly, children and women - were taken hostage and subjected to unimaginable torture. The fate of 150 of them is still not known. It was noted that the political and legal assessment of this crime against humanity was given after the return of the great leader Heydar Aliyev to the power. By decrees signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1994, this tragedy was assessed as genocide committed against our people, and February 26th was declared by Milli Majlis as the Day of the Khojaly genocide and national mourning. According to the Decree signed on February 25, 1997, “On announcing a minute of silence for the victims of the Khojaly genocide”, every year, on February 26, at 5 pm, the memory of the martyrs is commemorated with a minute of silence. Then the schoolchildren were informed about the large-scale work carried out for the international recognition of the Khojaly genocide. In conclusion, the students demonstrated an artistic composition dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy.
