A regional seminar on the development of cocoon breeding was held.
A regional seminar was held at the State Center for Agrarian Development of the Gabala region on the theme “Implementing measures to properly organize the feeding of silkworm and increase productivity”. The seminar was attended by the responsible persons of the Department of Organization and Monitoring of Plant Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Phytosanitary Service, the Research Institute of Livestock, "Shaki Ipak" OJSC, the executive authorities of Gabala, Agdash, Ismayilli and Oghuz regions, employees of agricultural development centers and cocoon producers. The meeting was opened by the director of the center Rahib Ahmadov. Representatives of the official bodies who spoke at the event, reported on measures taken to create a modern silk production infrastructure in our country. It was noted that measures are currently being taken to create new productive breeds and hybrids of the silkworm in the region, to expand scientific research in the field of preliminary seed farming, to create seed plants, and drying points for the primary processing of cocoons. The speakers spoke about the contribution of cocoon farming in providing employment to the population and further improving social welfare. At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the topic, as well as experts answered questions of the cocoon manufacturers.
