650th anniversary of Nasimi was celebrated.

The event, dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi, was held at the Gabala city senior secondary school No. 5. The event was attended by the Head of the Region Education Department Arif Bayramov, school teachers and students. The school director Zarnishan Aghamirzayeva, who opened the event, gave a speech on the work of Nasimi. It was noted that Imadaddin Nasimi was one of the most powerful authors who created the first beautiful examples of poetry in the Azerbaijani language and were able to express their progressive ideas through a highly artistic language. The diwans, written by him not only in his native language, but also in Farsi and Arabic, glorified the name of the poet far outside his homeland, in the entire Middle East. A school teacher, Shafiga Ataeva, who provided information about the life of the writer, stressed that the poet had received a decent education in Shamakhi, studied in detail the classical Eastern and Ancient Greek philosophy and literature, knew the basics of Islam and Christianity, perfectly mastered such sciences as medicine, astronomy and astrology, mathematics and logic, could write equally beautiful works in Azerbaijani, Arabic and Farsi. Ruhana Aghayeva, a school teacher, who spoke about the work of the great thinker, noted that the poet left behind a rich legacy and sang hymns of humanity and human dignity. School teacher Abgul Janjanova told the event participants in detail about the religious and philosophical visions of the great poet. Arifa Bayramova, Head of the Education Department, in her speech said that Nasimi’s poetry, written in all three languages, was skillfully created from an artistic point of view, that other advanced ideas of the poet met fierce resistance from the reactionary forces of the era, in his poems he criticized ignorant people, encouraged people to be inspired by the fairness of life, his contemporaries to learn the secrets of life and the universe, to take a good look at the knowledge, existing laws and rules. At the event, students of the school performed on the stage various fragments from the movie “Nasimi”. Students' presentations were greeted with applause.
