A summer school for young farmers interested in the agricultural sector has proven effective.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the AMAL Academy Summer School was conducted as part of the Agrarian Employment Enhancement Project (AMAL), which is being implemented by the Agency for Agricultural Loans and Development. The summer school, which was held from August 25 to September 1, was attended by 56 young people from different regions of Azerbaijan who are interested in agriculture, aged 18 to 35 years. The first AMAL Summer School in history, designed to expand the knowledge and skills of young farmers in the agricultural sector, was remembered for its exciting training program, visits to agricultural enterprises and fun activities. Participants of theoretical training conducted by experienced professionals using interactive methods received detailed information on the topics: “Market Value Chain”, “Functions to Support the Market Value Chain”, “Farmers Rights”, “Farmers Market Entry”, “Access to Financial Resources and Loans”, “Women's Economic Leadership”, “Innovative Agriculture”, “Global Trends in Agriculture”, etc. In accordance with the program, participants of the summer school, in addition to gaining theoretical knowledge, visited the meat-and-milk complex of Gabala-Agro Complex LLC of Gilan Holding in order to expand their knowledge and experience in the agricultural sector, watched the production process and met successful farmers. Traveling was very productive for young people. On the last day of the Summer School, the participants evaluated the trainings and events held during the week, and young people expressed their opinions and suggestions. At the end of the event, participants of the Summer School were awarded certificates.
