“The event was held in connection with the twenty-fourth anniversary of 20 th January tragedy”.

According   to the  relevant  actions  plan  of  Youth and Sports Department of Gabala region,  literary and artistic composition was  held   in “N” –military  unit  of  MES   associated with  “Twenty-fourth anniversary of  20th January  tragedy”. At first,  the  participants  of  event   looked at  the  corner  dedicated  to the  memory  of  Martyrs of  “20 January  tragedy”  created  in  the  military  unit.  National  anthem  of Azerbaijan  was sounded and after that  a   minute's silence was  observed  in tribute  to  martyrs.  
Afterwards  the  head  of  military  unit’s  club  Samir  Faramazov   announced  the opening  of event, soldiers of the military unit  said  poems  devoted to  the  “20 th January tragedy”.  Up to 120 staff attended  the event.  Head  of  Youth and Sports Department  Fakhri  Soltanov   gave  information   on the reasons   of    the  “20 th January  tragedy”, told  about  the  former  socio-political events  which  led to this tragedy. F.Soltanov   in his speech  gave  information that, National Leader  Heydar  Aliyev  who  expressed  his  protest  by  coming  to representation  of Azerbaijan  in  Moscow  and first  of all  put  his  country’s, people’s  freedom,  honor and dignity  above all in those  tragic days and  that  this tragedy  was  given  legal-political assessment after  Heydar Aliyev’s coming  to  power.
Afterwards  Head  of  Methodical Cabinet  of  Education Department  Arifa  Bayramova  in her  speech  noted that     those who were  killed  for  belief   in the  bloody  January  tragedy  which was entered as   heroic  page  into the  history  of struggle  for  freedom and  territorial  integrity, wrote  a  chronicle  of heroism  in the  history and  that  their   memory will never  be forgotten. The event  continued with   literary and artistic composition prepared by  the  pupils  of  City Full Secondary  School No 3. At the end  of the  event   a documentary  film  reflecting  the  events   that  occurred  on the  night  of  January 20  was  presented.
