More than 170,000 local and foreign tourists used services of Gabala hotels for 11 months.
The reforms carried out in Azerbaijan over the last years have led to the economy development and steady growth of macroeconomic indicators. The tourism industry plays an important role in these achievements as well. The geographical location of Azerbaijan, nature, climate, historical monuments, cuisine, the rich culture of our people and many other factors are the reason for the large flow of tourists coming to Azerbaijan. Gabala, having extensive tourist infrastructure, attracts tourists all year round. In the first 11 months of 2019, 172,818 local and foreign tourists were accommodated in hotels in the region. 58371 or 33.8% of them were citizens of Azerbaijan, 114447 or 66.2% were foreign citizens. Saudi citizens prevailed among the foreign tourists visiting Gabala for eleven months. Over the past period, 34,184 citizens of this country visited Gabala. In general, for eleven months, visitors from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Russia, India, China and Iraq prevailed in Gabala hotels. According to the structure official, 16 hotels and hotel-type enterprises functioned on the territory of the Gabala region over the past year. The one-time capacity of these facilities is 2260 beds. For 11 months, 24,776 beds have been used in hotels. The average cost of one-day placement was 86.3 AZN. The duration time of tourists' stay was 1-2 days. The highest density of hotels was observed in August - 36446. The number of tourists in June amounted to 21053, and in July - 35453. For the past period, 1238 employees were employed at tourist facilities. 240 of them are women, 95 are specialists who have received education in the field of tourism and hotel business, 36 are foreign employees.
