Opening the event, the Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Sabuhi Abdullayev, said that large-scale reconstruction and improvement works has been conducted in the country, and thorough infrastructure projects were carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Mentioning the task-oriented reforms being carried out in the country, the Head of the Region Executive Power emphasized that in recent years the region has been developing grain growing, fruit growing, coconut production, tobacco growing and cattle breeding as a result of government attention and care, with broad government support for agricultural development. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilham Guliyev in his speech said that significant steps have been taken this year towards the electronization of agricultural services. In 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture launched the e-Agriculture Information System (EKTİS) project, which includes key business principles - engagement with farmers, transparent and efficient management and application of innovations. Starting from 2020, agricultural subsidies will be available based on the farmers' statements through the electronic system. Farmers and all agencies providing them with information and consulting services must be more active in the process of announcing fall plantings. It is important for agricultural producers to declare fall plantings to receive subsidies next year. The Deputy Minister noted that the use of the EKTİS system will ensure the transparency of the subsidies' provision in Azerbaijan in full extent. It will allow collecting agricultural data and conducting a comprehensive analysis. During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on the new scheme of state support for the agricultural sector, the coefficients determined by the Council of Agricultural Subsidies for various product types, the positive impact of subsidies issued to farmers on the agricultural sector development; the answers were given to representatives of local executive bodies, municipalities and farmers regarding the implementation of EKTİS.
