Nij settlement celebrated Christmas.

January 7th, Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate Christmas - the birth of Jesus Christ. Udis living in Nij settlement of Gabala region also celebrate this day in a special way. Speaking at a ceremony organized in Chotari Albanian church, the head of the Albanian-Udi community, Robert Mobili, the senior priest of the church Rafik Danakari and members of community told about the essence of Christmas, conditions created for worshippers in Azerbaijan, being the land of tolerance, as well as care and attention shown by our government. Congratulations were sounded. It was noted that Nij settlement, where Muslims and Christians live in friendship, is a small model of tolerance. Udis, speaking at the event, noted that there is no discrimination in the region. It has been reported that there are 3 churches and 2 mosques in Nij. The restoration and commissioning of the Chotari Albanian Church, as well as the start of the renovation and reconstruction of the Blun (Head) Church by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, were mentioned as a good example of tolerance in the country. It should be noted that more than 3,700 Udis currently live in the settlement with a population of seven thousand people. The number of Udis around the world is about 10,000. The Udis have maintained their language, religion, traditions and customs in the settlement for centuries.
