An event entitled "February 26 Khojaly tragedy" was held at Gabala Children and Families Support Center. The event was attended by the employees of Gabala CFSC, parents and children registered in the center. At the event, it was reported that on the night of February 25 to 26, 1992, armenian armed groups occupied Khojali city with the help of armored vehicles and military personnel of the 336th motorized rifle regiment located in the soviet times in Khankandi (Stepanakert) city. They started brutally firing Khojaly city from canons and heavy armored vehicles starting on February 25. In such a situation, approximately 2 500 people remaining in the city surrounded by armenians, with the hope of reaching the center of Aghdam region nearby, had to leave the city. It was reported that the armenian armed groups and military of motorized rifle regiment, which razed the city to the ground, dealt with civilian population. At the event, poems and bayati prepared by children were voiced.
