International Grand Prix competition of the world famous shooters was held in Gabala.

On August 15 an official opening ceremony of the International Grand Prix competition in Olympic shooting, dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, was held in Gabala district.
During their speech within the event, held in complex for trapshooting and archery in the Bum village, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev, vice-president of the Azerbaijan Shooting Federation Hafiz Jafarov, vice-president of "Gabala" Sport Club Elvin Ismailov told about care of the state, shown to the development of sport in our country, successes achieved in this field, the value of the international shooting tournament, dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. This tournament held in accordance with the schedule of the International Shooting Sport Federation is one of the most important events after the World and Europe Cup and the first international tournament, organized over this sport in our country. International Grand Prix competition, with the organizational support of the "Gabala" Shooting Club and supported by the National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sport and Azerbaijan Shooting Federation will be held until August 21. The competition was attended by athletes from Azerbaijan, Australia, Great Britain, Belarus, Finland, Georgia, India, Iran, Italy, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Russia and Uzbekistan. Our country in this competition will be presented by Olympic champion Zemfira Meftahetdinova, vice-president of "Gabala" Sport Club, multiple champion of Azerbaijan Elvin Ismailov, a member of the Executive Committee of Azerbaijan Shooting Federation, Technical Manager of "Gabala" Shooting Club, multiple champion of Azerbaijan Emin Jafarov, finalist of the World Cup, record holder of Azerbaijan, representative of "Gabala" Shooting Club Nurlana Jafarova and others. Overall, approximately 150 shooters will compete in trap and skeet Olympic shooting disciplines. Competition started on August 16. After the opening ceremony, a concert with the participation of well-known masters of arts of Azerbaijan took place. The ceremony ended with fireworks.
