Azerbaijani fist is a fist of unity, the unity of our people, a fist of focused performance, the adoption of decisions and resolutions at the international level that benefit us and reflect justice.

Address of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Ilham Aliyev to the people on October 20, 2020 aroused great curiosity in our community and whole world. The address expressing determination, resolve and confidence for Commander-in-Chief and glorious Azerbaijani Army of the nation for the sake of ensuring its territorial integrity once again showed that the battles are one of the brightest pages in the heroic history of our army. The Azerbaijani can cope with even the most impossible tasks. Successful military operations of the Azerbaijani Army were an event confirming the strength of our Armed Forces. The Armenian political regime created a myth that the army of the invader state and the fortifications created by them were impassable. However, last battles once again testified that it is just a myth, the strength of our state and army, the unity, solidarity, patriotism of the people; the Azerbaijani people and state will never put up with the occupation and will restore the territorial integrity of our country at any cost. Raising flag over a new residential settlement is a proof for it. In addition to being an important military victory, these battles drew all the attention in the international arena to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Armenian army genuflecting in front of Azerbaijani army must already reconcile with its defeat, accept this truth as far as too late and withdraw from the occupied lands unconditionally and immediately. Having carried out ethnic cleansing against the Azerbaijanis, having committed genocide against the Azerbaijanis and having expelled our citizens from their native lands, they held a “referendum”, which is completely contrary to human morality, laws and international law. Ballistic missile shelling of civilians in the city of Ganja which is located far from the combat zone, is a flagrant violation of human rights and freedoms, the norms and principles of international law, including the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their additional protocols, decisions and resolutions of the UN Security Council. These atrocities against civilians are war crimes. The international community must give proper legal appraisal to this issue. However, the biased position of the world countries on the occupation of part of our territories, turning the blind eye to the invader actions and defending the enemy openly or veiledly were increasing complicacy of the issue. In this case, Azerbaijan had to determine the way out of the conflict and started to fight for the restoration of its territorial integrity. The people of Azerbaijan, who have been committed to ethnic cleansing by the Armenian government for many years, are now restoring their rights. The whole world sees what an ugly and savage enemy. President Ilham Aliyev told about liberated lands from occupation in his address to nation: “For 30 years, they sat on our lands and tried to challenge us. Suffice it to look at the destroyed villages and cities to see what savages we are facing. There is not a single safe building in the occupied and already liberated lands. All buildings have been demolished and

looted. Our historical sites, mosques and graves have been destroyed, looted and desecrated. They thought that the Azerbaijani people would put up with this situation. They changed the names of our districts, villages, but they could not break the will of the Azerbaijani people. Every Azerbaijani who was born after the occupation, lives with a desire to return to these lands. The Azerbaijani State will do its best to ensure that citizens of Azerbaijan return to the occupied and liberated lands and live there in peace and tranquility. Azerbaijani people will live in those lands again and rebuild there in peace and tranquility. All our destroyed mosques, cities and villages will be restored”. Tasks such as the return of Azerbaijani lands and the restoration of territorial integrity are expressed today both on the battlefield and at the international level. Azerbaijan cooperated all leading international organizations during the conflict and established a legal basis for the conflict settlement. The UN General Assembly, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other organizations have adopted resolutions. The document we have initialed with the European Union also supports the inviolability of our borders, our sovereignty and the territorial integrity of our country. That is the basis for resolving this conflict. On the other side, people who have shown patience for about 30 years effectuate their issue themselves. Azerbaijan changed the status quo by showing strength on the battlefield. Expressing the strength of Azerbaijani people, Ilham Aliyev said: “Azerbaijani fist is there not only to smash the enemy’s head. Azerbaijani fist is a fist of unity, the unity of our people, a fist of focused performance, the adoption of decisions and resolutions at the international level that benefit us and reflect justice”. Then President told about losses of enemy with liberated lands from occupation: 241 enemy tanks have been destroyed, 39 tanks have been taken as military trophy. 50 infantry fighting vehicles have been destroyed and 24 have been taken as trophy. 17 self-propelled artillery pieces have been destroyed. 198 artillery pieces have been destroyed, 58 mortars have been destroyed, 12 mortars have been taken as trophy, 25 grenade-launchers have been seized as military trophy, 53 anti-tank vehicles have been destroyed. 70 pieces of multiple rocket launchers have been destroyed. 2 “Hurricane” and 2 MLRS, 1 “TOS” type multiple rocket launcher has been destroyed. 4 “S-300” anti-aircraft missile systems have been destroyed. 3 “TOR” anti-aircraft missile systems have been destroyed. About forty “OSA” anti-aircraft missile systems have been destroyed. Five “KUB” and “KRUG” anti-aircraft missile systems have been destroyed. Six unmanned aerial vehicles, two “Elbrus” type tactical operational missile systems, one ballistic missile, one “Tochka-U” missile, eight radio-electronic means of combat have been destroyed. 198 trucks have been destroyed, including 15 full of ammunition, 102 trucks have been seized as military trophy. And now, I am very proud to announce the liberation of our settlements that my dear people are looking forward to. Today, Fuzuli district – liberated villages: Dordchinar, Kurdlar, Yukhari Abdurrahmanli, Garghabazar, Ashaghi Veysalli, Yukhari Aybasanli, Jabrayil district - liberated villages: Safarsha, Hasangaydi, Fughanli, Imambaghi, Dash Veysalli, Aghtapa, Yarahmadli, Khojavand district – liberated settlements: Aghjakand, Mulkudara, Dashbashi, Gunashli (former name

of Gunashli village was Norashen), Vang. I am giving this village a new Azerbaijani name. From now on, Vang village will be called Chinarli village. Zangilan district – Azerbaijan’s glorious Army has also entered the territory of Zangilan district and liberated settlements. The liberated settlements in the territory of Zangilan district: Havali village, Zarnali village, Mammadbayli village, Hakari village, Sharifan village, Mughanli village and Zangilan city! I congratulate my nation for the victory. Zangilan is ours! Karabakh is ours!” The success of the Azerbaijani Army is due to the toil and constant care of the President of the country, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev. Of course, this care is followed with great demand and respect. Confidence of people in their president increases the strength of state policy and makes it more effective. People support and national solidarity enable to achieve objectives shortly. All people believe that Azerbaijani Flag will be soon flied in the other lands under occupation on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
