Azerbaijan considers the possible to resolve the conflict peacefully.

On October 25, 2020, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to “Fox News” TV channel of the United States of America and stated that the Azerbaijan-Armenian conflict launched on September 27 as a result of Armenian provocation. Armenia violating the ceasefire many times shelled heavy artillery weapons on September 27 and in the first hours of this military attack there were victims, among civilians and military servicemen. So far 63 civilians were killed, 300 were wounded. Azerbaijan responded adequately to this terror attack of Armenia and an important part of occupied territories was liberated as a result. Fascist ideology, ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijan, state terrorism, genocide and expansionist policy of Armenia occurs in front of the eyes of the world community for more than 30 years. The resolutions adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations in 1993 expressly demanded full, complete, immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops. Unfortunately, these resolutions have not been effectuated for 27 years. However, the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia signed a joint statement about the ceasefire in Moscow on October 10. But the next day, Armenia shelled a ballistic missile on Ganja, the second biggest city of Azerbaijan situated far away from the conflict zone. 10 civilians were killed and 30 were wounded as a result of attack. Then, they fired ballistic attack at Ganja for the second time and 15 civilians were killed as a result of this attack. President of Ilham Aliyev stated “No. This is absolutely wrong. Firstly, our economic indexes are one of the best ones. Economic downturn is less than 4 percent within ten months. You can compare it with your country of European countries. Unemployment rate is 7 percent, but poverty rate 5 percent in Azerbaijan. Also compare it with your country. We have no strict social problem. Azerbaijan is cited by the World Health Organization as an example of COVID-19. We have provided financial and humanitarian support to more than 30 countries. Our economy is constant. Our economy is stable. As you said, we don’t need launching a war to cover up some domestic problems. It is in the opposite side like that. Armenia which is completely now in economic and social problems needs to distract attention. It is the Armenian prime minister who puts the leading opposition party leader to jail. He is pursuing two former presidents” as a response to the thought “You use this war as a cover to divert attention from the problems inside your country, social issues, economic decline, corruption, COVID-19” of journalist. President Ilham Aliyev said about corruption and family management following an interview: “There is corruption, and we are fighting it. We introduced a program of broad economic reforms. Many people, many government officials and high-ranking officials have recently been arrested on corruption charges. Corruption exists everywhere, and we are fighting this phenomenon. As far as family rule is concerned, I want to draw attention to your own country, where father and son held important positions. The Bush family, the Clinton family, husband and wife, the Kennedy family, and in many other countries too. So this is no different from what is happening in the United States”. During the conflict, all efforts of Azerbaijan aimed to end an active phase as soon as possible. Azerbaijan is absolutely against internationalizing the conflict anyway to expand the dispute. It is obvious that the very large Armenian community has an influence on domestic politics not only in the United States, but also in France and Russia, and is more lobbying and active against Azerbaijan. During the conflict, all the attempts of the Armenian Prime Minister were to ask Russia to send troops to fight against Azerbaijan. This is completely ineffective and against the international law. Azerbaijan opposes the intervention of other countries. Azerbaijani position is that all regional countries and all countries must not be involved in the conflict. The United States, as one of the three co-chairs of the Minsk Group, has an OSCE mandate to help the parties reach an agreement. The Nagorno-Karabakh as recognized as an integral part of Azerbaijan by the USA and all other countries. All works done by the President of USA, Donald Trump are according to the international relations. Azerbaijan and United States of America have very strong partnership relations. Azerbaijan has completed important projects with a great support of the United States. United States of America has always supported Azerbaijan in the first years of independence and mentioned Azerbaijan as the friend countries many times. Today bilateral partnership is at a high level. Therefore, it is in the interest of the United States to have peace in the region. Azerbaijan thinks that deeply integrating of Northern Caucasus region and our strategic relations with Georgia, another South Caucasus country, can serve as an exemplary for future relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Mr. President said in an interview that Azerbaijani and Armenians can live together in Nagorno-Karabakh region as in Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, as well as many countries. The rights and interests of the Armenian population will be fully protected within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and region countries will live peacefully, because Azerbaijan is a tolerant country keeping the multiculturalism traditions alive. Karabakh is ours! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!
