With organizational support of the National Cancer Center, a regional research and practice conference dedicated to thyroid diseases was held in the assembly hall of the "Qafqaz Resort" hotel in Gabala.
180 health professionals from 11 cities and districts of the republic, speaking during a regional conference, told about health care reforms, successfully implemented in our country, about the works being done in the field of provision of medical equipment based on high technology and modernization of the health system. It was noted that in recent years more than 500 new health facilities were built or repaired and commissioned in the country in accordance with the Order and instructions of the President Ilham Aliyev.
During the event, the reports were presented by the Director of the Republican Center of Endocrinology, professor Rauf Jabbarov on "Iodine deficiency and thyroid diseases", the surgeon oncologist of head and neck department of the National Cancer Center, professor Aziz Aliyev on "Thyroid cancer: the value of total thyroidectomy and lymph node dissection", the doctor of radionuclide department of the National Cancer Center Fuad Aliyev on "Value for radionuclide diagnosis and therapy in thyroid diseases", doctors of pathomorphology department of the National Cancer Center Shahin Osmanov and Bahadur Abbasov on "Morphological analysis of biopsies of the thyroid gland: “The Bethesda System” classification in the study of cytological and histological samples”, chief of head and neck department of the National Cancer Center Gazim Guliyev on "Medullary thyroid cancer", professor of the University of Atlanta of the USA Gumrah Aliyev on "Value of the early diagnosis of high proliferation and division of mitochondrial DNA in carcinoid tumors and their metastases as a marker".
It was noted that after the diabetes this disease is one of the most widespread diseases around the world. In our republic, thyroid diseases occur mainly in mountain areas, in particular, Balakan, Sheki, Zagatala and other regions, and this is mainly due to lack of iodine.
Other speakers at the conference spoke about the modern methods used in the examination and treatment, prevention of thyroid diseases. The conference was continued with discussions. In conclusion, physicians were awarded certificates.
