The official opening of the final stage of the Olympic Shooting World Cup was held in Gabala
On October 22 the official opening ceremony of the final stage of Olympic Shooting World Cup competitions took place in Gabala (ISSF World Cup Final 2014).
At the ceremony, held in the Congress Center named after Heydar Aliyev, the speeches were delivered by the president of "Gabala" Athletic Club Tale Heydarov, vice president of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzadeh, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ismail Ismailov and Secretary General of the International Shooting Sport Federation Franz Schreiber. Speaking about the work done in the field of strengthening the material and technical base of sport in Azerbaijan, the care and attention provided to athletes by the President Ilham Aliyev, the progress made, they wished the competitors good luck.
The final stage of World Cup competitions, held with the joint organizational support of the "Gabala" Shooting Club and Azerbaijan Shooting Federation, with the support of the National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was attended by 280 athletes in Olympic pistol and trap shooting, occupying a special place in the world league table. Athletes who took the top places in the world rankings, getting the points in the competitions for the World Cup, held at the 7th stage this year in different countries, have won the right to participate in the final stage of the competition of the World Cup, held in Gabala. In accordance with the schedule of the International Shooting Sport Federation, the tournament is considered the most important competition after the European and World Championships.
In total more than 500 athletes and guests from 40 countries participate in the finals, held in Gabala. Our country is represented in these international competitions by Nurlana Jafarova and Emin Jafarov in trap shooting, Irada Ashumova and Ruslan Lunev in pistol shooting.
On October 23 the competition started in Gabala Complex of Trap Shooting and Archery.
