The Day of Remembrance of national hero of Azerbaijan, Major General Polad Hashimov, was held in Gabala
Memorial ceremony was held in Vandam village today, on July 12-14, 2020, dedicated to the memory of Major General Polad Hashimov - National Hero of Azerbaijan, one of the sons of Gabala, who fell as a martyr during counter-offensive operation carried out by Azerbaijani Army in response to the aggression of Armenian armed forces in the direction of Tovuz region, located in the border zone of Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the event, which was attended by the heads of Gabala region executive power, law enforcement agencies, departments, enterprises and organizations, participants of Patriotic War, veterans, members of the families of martyrs, representatives of public and media, moment of silence was honoured in memory of brave sons who fell in the name of the Motherland, also National Anthem was played. Those who spoke at the event talked about the formation of the army, the foundation of which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev, and is being successfully continued and developed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, about the heroism of Major General, said the prayers for the souls of the martyrs. The members of the family of the martyr expressed gratitude to the President of the country Ilham Aliyev and the first Vice-President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for the attention and care provided. In conclusion, literary and artistic composition performed by the schoolchildren was presented.
