The regional conference on "Azerbaijan - a country example of tolerance" was held in Gabala.
On November 11, with the support of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, a regional conference, dedicated to the 16th of November - International Day for Tolerance, was held in the "Qafqaz Resort" hotel of Gabala city on "Azerbaijan - a country example of tolerance". Initially, participants of the event commemorated the great leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers to his monument, erected in the city center.
Then the chairman of the committee Mubariz Gurbanli, Deputy of Milli Mejlis, Chairman of the Republican Council of Elders Fattah Heydarov, Chairman of the Milli Mejlis on agrarian policy Eldar Ibrahimov, first deputy of the Head of District Executive Power Abil Aghasafov met with believers in mosques of Gabala city and Albanian church of Nij settlement, where they inquired about the conditions created for them and on behalf of the Committee presented gifts to the mosques and Albanian temple.
During the conference, a detailed exchange of views on the religious situation in the country, the relationship between state and religion, the state's care of religion, the rich traditions of tolerance in Azerbaijan, maintenance of national and spiritual values and other relevant issues.
It was noted that among the CIS countries for the first time the international day of tolerance was celebrated in Azerbaijan in 1999 on the initiative of great leader Heydar Aliyev. Within the event, the chairman of the committee Mubariz Gurbanli said, that Azerbaijan has historically been considered a sacred place of living together of representatives of different nations, nationalities and religions. He noted that the tolerance in Azerbaijan has very strong foundations, rich traditions, deep history and spiritual roots. He informed that the main purpose of the religious policy of the state is to create in the country favorable conditions for the development of positive and religious situation far from the conflicts, as well as the strengthening of stability within society.
Speaking about the care of the state of religion, merits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the preservation of our national and spiritual values, the chairman of the committee highlighted the measures implemented in this direction by the President Ilham Aliyev. Speaking on the topic "The place of tolerance - Azerbaijan", Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Gunduz Ismailov gave full information about the history, causes of occurrence and current situation of tolerance in our country. Speaking noted that tolerance is not only a legal obligation, but also a spiritual requirement for every citizen of Azerbaijan. Chairman of the National Council of Elders, Deputy of Milli Mejlis Fattah Heydarov drew attention to the fact that as a result of a deliberate policy of the President, Azerbaijan is an example to the world in the field of tolerance, he noted that the protection and preservation of these qualities are the protection and preservation of our statehood.
Chairman of the Milli Majlis committee on agrarian policy Eldar Ibrahimov, telling about the merits of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in preserving the traditions of religious tolerance, noted that the conductivity in the direction of the policy should be seen as part of the socio-political stability in the country.
Regional Kadi of the Caucasian Muslims Office Jeyhun Rustamov told about tolerant attitude of Islam to other religions, traditions of tolerance in the region. He noted the special role of the Islamic religion in formation in our country of a model of tolerant environment. In his speech, Chairman of Albanian-Udi Christian community Robert Mobili noted that, historically, the establishment of a tolerant society in Azerbaijan created a favorable environment for the preservation of the existence of the living here indigenous peoples and ethnic groups, including Udi.The representative of the religious community of St. George of Gah District Ms. Nanuli Kulashvili, representative of the Jewish community of Oguz District Rasim Mikayilov and representative of Molokan community of Ivanovka village of Ismayilli District Grigory Smirnov in their speeches talked about tolerance in Azerbaijan, ensuring freedom of religion for all citizens, regardless of religious affiliation, respect and care of the state to the religious confessions.
Within the conference a detailed exchange of views was held on religious and ethnic situation in Azerbaijan, the dominance of relations of cooperation was emphasized, based on the inter-civilization and inter-cultural dialogue in the country, a tolerant environment having old traditions, mutual respect and trust between the different religions and sects.
During the conference the questions of the believers were answered, the participants were given copies of the "Tolerance" book.
