The State Fire Control Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations continues to perform its duties in ensuring fire safety in the country.
In this context, the statistical analysis of fires occurred in the Republic carried out by the Service shows that the great majority of fires falls to the residential sector. Almost 50 percent of fires occurred in the residential sector is caused by non-compliance with fire safety rules while installing electrical equipment and 15 percent is caused by non-compliance with fire safety rules while installing gas appliances (devices). Moreover, main factors in occurrence of fires include careless handling of fire and welding and unsupervised children’s playing with fire.
We appeal to the people in order to ensure safety of our citizens in the abovementioned context and remind the necessity of following vital fire safety rules:
- Leave the installation of electrical and gas network only to specialists and for this purpose use quality products!
- As the use of gas appliances not meeting standards leads to poisoning, fire and explosion hazards, never use such appliances!
- Never overload power lines and extension cords!
- Never leave an apartment while electrical equipment and gas appliances are working!
- Never store flammable liquid in an apartment, balcony and staircases!
- Never turn on the lights when you smell gas when entering the apartment, open doors and windows, close the gas supply to the apartment and call a specialist!
- Never allow children to use electrical and gas appliances!
- Never leave minors unattended!
- Never throw unextinguished matches and cigarette butts in the trash or from the balcony!
Keep in mind that it is easier to prevent a fire than to extinguish it. Do not endanger lives of yourself and your loved ones! Protect your home and property from fire!
