Open Judo tournament in Gabala.
District youth and sports department held open judo tournament among children and adolescents with “Gabala” Sports Club at Olympics Sports Complex. Sportsmen up to 260 on 21 teams from 15 cities and regions of the Republic attended the tournament.
The principle goal of holding the tournament was to further develop judo in the Republic as well as increase popularity of sports and develop competition experience and qualification of child and adolescent athletes, and determine the composition of the region’s team.
By making speech, the head of Youth and Sports department Fakhri Soltanov and coordinator of “Gabala” Sports Club Sabuhi Garayev spoke about the strengthening of material and technical base of sports in Gabala as in the Republic, the care and attention paid by the President of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev to the sportsmen and wished success to the tournament participants. Thereafter, information provided to the coaches of teams about the competition rules. The tournament was held according to the applicable International regulations.
At the end of Open Gabala judo tournament, Gabala region team took I place, Sumgait city team II place and Zagatala region team III place in team score according to the number of medals. At the close, winners from each weight class were conferred diplomas and medals, teams were presented cups.
