Scientific-practical conference on the subject "Say no to drugs!" was held.

Opening the conference, held at the Cultural Center of Gabala, with the introductory speech, Deputy Head of District Executive Power Abil Aghasafov stressed that drug addiction that turned into trouble of the century has now become one of the global problems plaguing mankind. He noted that the fight against this universal scourge condemning people to death, inflicting a crushing blow to the gene pool is constantly in the spotlight of the world, the efforts are united to conduct an effective and consistent struggle.
In this regard the tasks are currently definedwith the adoption of the world's important programs, conventions and agreements. And Azerbaijan Republic joining these programs has become an active participant of them.
Then speaker noted that the fight against drug trafficking in our country is constantly in the spotlight of the state. To improve the efficiency of this work, strengthen the prevention measures, the necessary consecutive steps are taken. At the time, initiated by our national leader Heydar Aliyev, and now continuing in the new plane, uncompromising struggle against drug trafficking is a priority to protect the interests of our state.
In order to improve the performance in this area, the President Ilham Aliyev approved the "Programme to combat illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors and drug abuse", covering 2007-2012.
Abil Aghasafov told that, despite considerable work in the fight against drugs in the world and in our country, there are still problems in this area. Concern is the fact that every year a number of people infected with this "disease" in the world is steadily growing, the number of crimes related to drugs continues to increase. At the end of his speech, he noted that taken into account this concern, anxiety, to conduct the scientific and practical conference on the subject "Say no to drugs!" in terms of relevance is very important and commendable.
Then, at the conference the Deputy Chief of the District Police Department Ramin Gadirov made a presentation on the measures to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs.
Speaking on the report, the Head of the District Youth and Sports Department Fakhri Soltanov, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Minors and Protection of Their Rights of the District Executive Power Shukur Takhirov told about programs in the field of educational measures among young people and the bitter consequences of drug abuse in our society.
