A delegation headed by the President of the Republic of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, who has paid an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited Gabala region for familiarization.
Giorgi Margvelashvili was welcomed by the Chairman of State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov, the Chaiman of State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov and the Head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Sabuhi Abdullayev in Gabala International Airport.
During familiarization with Gabala region, the delegation was thoroughly informed on the work done and successes achieved in association with socio-economic development.
It was highlighted that today an obvious sample of the socio-economic development achieved in the Republic can be clearly seen is in the example of Gabala region. The manufacturing enterprises newly established in the region, industry and tourism infrastructures play an exceptional role in the increase of economic development dynamics of the region. Holding international and large-scale events in Gabala once again confirms its natural beauty and that the region is of paramount importance for international tourism.
It was brought to the attention that the qualities, highly valued by the President Ilham Aliyev, paved the way for the creation of modern tourism infrastructure in Gabala and the transformation of the region into an international tourist attraction.   
Within the visit, the delegation closely followed the production process of the Gabala Canning Factory, one of the manufacturing enterprises of the region. It has been mentioned that the enterprise, located in an area of 12 hectares, has no analogues in the Caucasus for the production capacity and technological equipments. “Tetra Pak” line was put into operation and the newest equipment, brought from abroad, was installed in the factory. The working principle covers all processes - starting from the receipt of raw material up to the packaging of finished product. Manufactured products are exported to 30 countries around the world. The delegation, interested in the constructions of the region built in modern architectural style, later got acquainted with Heydar Aliyev “Congress Center”. Guests were informed that the building consisted of 3 floors and 4.2 m depth basement. The height of each floor is 6.9 m. Halls for negotiations, wardrobe, rooms for artists, 350-seat restaurant, administrator rooms, spacious foyer, hall for elevators, sanitary centers on the first floor, multifunctional 1200-seat conference hall, 92 m2 stage, VIP rooms, security rooms, rooms for artists and media and spacious lobby on the second floor of the center have been demonstrated to the delegation. It was underlined that Conference hall can be temporarily converted into plane shape by descending chairs for the other purposes (concert, meeting etc.). The delegation interested in the region’s tourism infrastructure visited hotels complex and health centers. Guests were informed that Special attention is paid to the tourism development in Azerbaijan and the creation of modern infrastructure in this area. Now regions, along with the capital, have been involved in this process, and large-scale tourism projects are implemented in the regions. “Tufandag” mountain skiing, summer and winter resort complex, the first phase of which was inaugurated by the President Mr. Ilham Aliyev on January 2014 in Gabala, is one of such objects.
It was mentioned that 4 rope ways were completely constructed within the confines of the first stage of complex’s construction as well as construction works were finished in the five ski slopes out of 10. The restaurants with all necessary conditions for the organization of tourists’ recreation are available here as well. It was emphasized that this great recreation zone provides rope way trips, skiing in winter, hotel and other services for tourists throughout the year.
It was noted that one of the essential factors making the complex more important is the opportunity of tourists to determine the route system at their own discretion. Each user can select the route according to runway, degree of slope and complexity. All pistes were fully provided with snowmaking generation system. In general, “Tufandag” mountains - skiing, summer - winter recreation complex has the ability to serve up to three thousand per day. Familiarization with Gabala, construction and renovation works carried out in the region made great impression on the delegation led by President of the Republic of Georgia Georgi Margvelashvili. The guests send to Georgia Republic from Gabala İnternational Airport in the second half of the day.
