Nakhichevan students enjoyed the tour in Gabala.
As a part of an educational tour for high school students "Know our country" organized by the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, Nakhichevan students got acquainted with Gabala region.
Participants of Ismailly- Gabala- Sheki tour, students of 9-11th classes from Nakhichevan, Ordubad, Sharur, Babak, Julfa, Kangarly and Shakhbuz regions arrived in Gabala on the evening of March the 18th. This group, consisting of 40 people, was warmly welcomed by the hotel "Caucasus Yeddy Gozel".
First, students were given a lot of information about the importance of the tour throughout Ismayilli -Gabala- Sheki regions in the hotel. The students were also informed about the history, traditions, geography of Gabala, about tourist sites, ancient monuments, picturesque corners, and production and social facilities built in recent years. The students received answers to their questions. This was followed by intellectual games, quizzes. Music and entertainment was organized.
First of all, the students were acquainted with the ruins of the ancient city of Gabala, located in the village of Chukhur Gabala, as well as the results of the archaeological excavations carried out in the area. The participants of the tour learned that Gabala has rich history and is one of the oldest places of settlement in Azerbaijan.
These ruins are ancient architectural monuments of national importance, they are like a pearl of our cultural heritage.
Participants of the tour were told about the ancient city of Gabala, which for 900 years was the capital of Caucasian Albania, and about the modern city of Gabala, which is one of the most beautiful and fastest growing cities in Azerbaijan, about the progress made in the socio-economic and cultural life of the city, its flora, ethnography and about the employment of the residents.
One of the places in Gabala, which impressed Nakhchivani students was a place called " Nohur Golu”. They learned that “Nohur Golu” lies at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. The lake is 1,925 meters long and 1,355 meters wide, occupies the area of 240 hectares, the depth of the lake is 24 meters, and it contains 16 million cubic meters of water. Demiraparan and Wandam rivers flow into the lake. The lake is of great importance for the development of fishing and rowing.
The students anticipated the visit to the Albanian church "Dzhotari", located in the village of Nij. They learned that the village of Nij is a small and unique model of tolerance in our country. Representatives of different nations and religious beliefs have always lived in mutual understanding and friendliness in this village.
Next, the students visited a carpet-weaving workshop, operating in the area and being one of the oldest crafts of the Azerbaijani people. There the students got acquainted with the exhibition of the carpets, reflecting the artistic thought and creative imagination of the artists.
During the visit, Nakhichevani students also visited Heydar Aliyev Center. Students were told about the socio-political activity of the leader, they watched a video about the life and activity of the national leader.
Students also got acquainted with the modern tourist infrastructure, hotels and leisure centers, established in the area. They told that they were very satisfied with the trip and impressed by both ancient and modern cities of Gabala. Having received plenty of pleasant experiences students set of to the city of Baku.
