Gabala Culture Center hosted an event dedicated to March 31 - Day of Genocide against Azerbaijanis. The event was opened by Deputy Head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Ataya Osmanova. With a moment of silence the victims of the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis on March 31, 1918 and in subsequent periods were commemorated.
During the speech was said that genocide, committed by Armenian nationalists against the Azerbaijani people for nearly two hundred years, is estimated as a tragic page in our history, as a result of the massacre hundreds of thousands of our compatriots were killed, subjected to terror and aggression, were deported from their native lands, and this aggressive policy is deliberately continuing. Noting that with the decree of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev dated on March 26, 1998 Genocide of Azerbaijanis was given a real legal and political assessment, speakers stressed the importance of the works and activities carried out under the leadership of the Head of the State Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the direction of bringing to the attention of the world community the truth about the atrocities, committed by Armenians against our people.
The event participants condemned the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide committed by Armenian nationalists against Azerbaijanis, expressed their opinions that world authoritative international organizations should give a legal and political assessment to genocide of Azerbaijanis and put an end to double standards.
