The 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism was celebrated.
On May 9 Gabala hosted an event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism.First of all visiting the memorial complex erected in memory of our compatriots who died in the World War II, event participants laid flowers at the monument to soldier's mother. Then the festive musical event organized in honor of the 70th anniversary of the victory was continued in the "Qafqaz Karvansaray Hotel". Addressing the meeting, Head of the District Executive Power Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev congratulated war veterans on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism, thoroughly interested in their problems. In his speech, the Head of the District Executive Power said that about 700 thousand Azerbaijanis participated in the Second World War, together with them 6 thousand Gabala residents fought heroically and about 3 thousand survivors compatriots came back home. He also brought to the attention that the historic valor of the sons and daughters of Azerbaijan, passing a glorious way at the front and working selflessly in the rear, will never be erased from the memory, and will be a real example of patriotism for the young generation. Then, at the event veterans shared their frontline memories. They expressed gratitude to the President Ilham Aliyev for the attention and care shown to the veterans. In conclusion, the veterans of the World War II were presented with souvenirs, Honorary Certificates of the executive power and jubilee medals of "70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".
