Beekeeping is developing rapidly.
Favourable conditions are available in Gabala for the development of beekeeping which is considered to be highly profitable from an economic point of view. Gabala region department of Azerbaijan Beekeepers Union was established for further development of beekeeping and coordination of work of the entrepreneurs who are engaged in this field. As a result of works done in the region in accordance with the requirements of Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Beekeeping”, the number of individuals interested in this field is growing year after year. Over the last year 34 physical entities established individual apiculture and formed 186 new bee families in the region. At present, the number of persons engaging in beekeeping has reached to 630 and the number of bee families has reached to 1621.Last year, Gabala beekeepers produced 9 thousand and 800 kilograms of honey. This year, the beekeepers are expected to produce more than 12 thousand kilograms of honey. Collection of honey will be started in mid-June. It has been planned to increase the number of bee families 2 times in stud farm of region in the coming years.
