9th Summit of the Council of Elders of Turkic-speaking states has started its work in Gabala city
The summit attendees laid wreathes at the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev and expressed profound respect for the founder of modern Azerbaijan. Then in the event held in conference hall of “Qafqaz Riverside” hotel’s, Chairman of the Council of Elders, Deputy Fattah Heydarov greeted chairmen of the Councils of Elders of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan as well as officials of Turkish Parliament Assembly attending in the summit and said that steps taken for the cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries have been intensified over the last years and a number of initiatives have been executed. These initiatives, which are already coming to fruition, are characterized as beginning of a new stage of Turkic-speaking countries’ cooperation in different fields. The results of works and measures taken in this direction and future steps are the main subjects of discussions at the level of different organizations established for the purpose of coordination of Turkic-speaking states’ joint action. Representative of other countries participating in the summit emphasized the importance of further development of cooperative relationship in the economic and cultural-humanitarian fields among members of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States. At the summit, discussions were held on development of “Common Turkish history” textbook program for 8th grade students, the concept of integration of the Turkic States, “Turkish history” textbook embracing 2015-2020 and “Common geography” book by the Turkish Academy. The attendees exchanged views on holding of the meeting of ministers’ responsible for information and media prior to the 5th Summit of “Information and Media Cooperation” Turkish Society to be held in Kazakhstan on September 11, 2015 as well as after it.
The elders exchanged views in the direction of establishment of regional centres of diasporas of Turkic-Speaking Countries Cooperation Council member countries’ in the USA, France and Germany, their joint activity and centralized management as well as kept the focus of attention on the issues of observation of elections by Turk PA’s mission during presidential and parliamentary elections that will be held in the member countries. In the Summit discussions were held on holding of the 2nd Summit of “Fraternal Ports” in Baku during this year as well as new cooperation projects considered in the fields of alternative energy, information and communication technologies among member states under the auspices of Turkic Council. At the end of the summit, the participants discussed further development of cooperation between the member countries in the framework of considered measures. State that the Turkic-Speaking Countries Cooperation Council was established in 2009 by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey in order to contribute to peace and stability in Eurasia. Secretariat of the organization is located in Istanbul.
