Archaeologists have discovered in Gabala materials related to the early Iron Age.

Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan conducted archaeological research in Gabala. With the support of the Association of SEBA (Seoul-Baku) Azerbaijan-Korean Cultural Exchange new samples of material culture were found during archaeological excavations in the ancient city. Excavations carried out in the territory of Chukhur Gabala called Selbir and Gyullyutepe, under the leadership of the head of the department of ancient period archaeology of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, ANAS correspondent member Ilyas Babayev. The most attention is attracted by the silos, consisting of clay vessels, and materials relating to the early Iron Age. These new findings will be demonstrated after the restoration in the laboratories of the Gabala Archaeological Center equipped with the most modern technology. Note that found during archaeological excavations about 2 thousand exhibits are displayed at the Archaeological Center.
