"The International Day of Older Persons" was celebrated.
The Gabala hosted an event dedicated to the "International Day of Older Persons". First, event participants laid flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev. Then, the event continued in the assembly hall of the city secondary school No.1. Then, the event continued in the assembly hall of the secondary school № 1 of the city. During the event it was reported that according to the decision taken in 1992 by the General Assembly of the United Nations, in order to protect the elderly, annually October 1st is celebrated in the world as the "International Day of Older Persons". And the implementation of practical measures was also stressed towards the study of the social problems of older citizens, address their needs, it has been brought to the attention, that on June 22, 2001, the country adopted the Law of Azerbaijan Republic "On social services for older people". In their speeches older persons expressed their satisfaction with the public concern about them, saying about status of elders in our society today, they said that the younger generation are now more in need of the elderly. At the event, representative of the district executive power Zahid Afandiyev congratulated elderly people on the occasion of the memorable day.
