Region championship on polyathlon "Ready to Defend the Homeland"
With organization of the Youth and Sports Department and participation of education department, region championship on polyathlon "Ready to Defend the Homeland" has been held. The aim of the competition is to train the youth for defence of the motherland from moral and physical aspect, to enhance their sense of patriotism and love for the country, to strengthen military readiness among teenagers at conscription and preinduction age, to improve competition experience and skills of the athletes. Fakhri Soltanov, the Head of Youth and Sports Department of Gabala Region, opened the event and gave information to the participants about aim and tasks of the competition. Almost 20 teams from region general education schools took part in the championship held on the hundred metre race, chinup and grenade throwing in accordance with the rules of International Association of Polyathlon. In the final of the competition, the team of Amirvan village secondary school won the 1st place, the team of Vandam settlement secondary school No. 1 took the 2nd place, and the team of Gabala city secondary school No.2 took the 3rd place. Winners were awarded with the diplomas of the Youth and Sports Department. The winner of the first place qualified for participation in regional stage of the Republic championship.
