Our students visited Guba genocide cemetery.

Students from Gabala got familiar with sightseeing of Guba region within the framework of educative tour-campaign “Learning our country” on November 18. The excursion to Guba began from Girmizi Gesebe (Red Town) where Mountain Jews live in compact. The students walked in the Heydar Aliyev Park in the settlement, as well as got closely acquainted with synagogue in which Mountain Jews pray. After visiting Girmizi Gesebe, the participants of the tour-campaign came to Juma Mosque. The students were informed that the construction of the mosque with rich architectural style began in 1802 and completed with intervals for 10 years. It was noted that the mosque is one of the most ancient religious centre not only in Guba, but also in all north-east Azerbaijan. Later the students observed carpet weaving process in the carpet factory “Ancient Guba” in the city. Here they were informed of Guba carpet weaving school in detailed. The participants of the tour-campaign were informed of the genocide by Armenians comprehensively while visiting Guba Genocide Memorial Complex and mass grave. They were told that the complex was established with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and opened on September 18, 2013. The photos reflecting different part of Guba in the early XX century, construction and landscaping work at that time and people's the way of life were viewed in the complex. The students were informed of genocides by Armenians against our people in the different regions of our republic in the last century on the special map on sensor display monitor. Genocide cemetery was revealed on April 1, 2007 while implementing digging works in the area and after that the associates of Archaeology and Ethnography Institution of Azerbaijan National Sciences Academy have been carrying out extensive researches in the mass grave. In the second half of the day the students took an excursion to the mountain waterfall on the way to Khinalig village. The participants of the tour-campaign got closely acquainted with “Rixos Quba Azerbaijan” hotel complex and Azerbaijan National Golf Club located here, too. Our students are going to visit sightseeing of Khacmaz region on November 19.
