"Year of Agriculture" has been successful for development of fruit-growing and grain growing in Gabala
The peasant farmers and individual farm owners making a profit on the sale of grain, fruit, and vegetable products which are the backbone of the economy in Gabala region have aimed at the development of these fields year by year. The specialists deem that 2015-" Year of Agriculture" has been a successful year for the landowners of Gabala. Thus, compared to the previous years the farmers have expanded the areas of croplands in 2015, as well they have obtained a good harvest from these lands. In 2015 the harvesting of agricultural products has been completed in time and without loss in Gabala. Throughout the year 64645 tonnes of grain have been obtained from 21300 Ha area, 3144 tonnes of corn from 1261Ha area, 1872 tonnes of garden products from 130 Ha area, 114 tonnes of sunflower from 143 Ha area, 9495 tonnes of vegetable products from 2096 Ha area, and 7497 tonnes of potato from 1157 Ha area. Last year the gardeners gathered 1414 tonnes of product from 458 Ha vineyard and 14115 tonnes of product from 10429 Ha orchard. All these results are very higher than the indicators of the previous year. Thus, in 2015 spring and autumn products have been cultivated in 26512 Ha area, and this is 1800 Ha more than the number in the previous year. Furthermore, for the product of the current year 26512 Ha area (1210 ha more than the then number in the previous year) has been sown. As well, in the past year new orchards have been created in 220 Ha areas in Gabala.
